Joint Occupational Health And Safety Services
For the purpose of establishing healthier, safer and efficient working environments, prevention of occupational accident and diseases, the Occupational Health and Safety numbered 6331 which was came into force in Turkey on January 1, 2013, are encompassed all workplace. Following the adoption of the Law No. 6331 by the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Security, we have been authorized as a joint health security unit at ISTANBUL EFOR OHS Co. Ltd All workers are included within the scope of the Law regardless of whether they work in public or private sector. Employers are given the opportunity to provide services from joint health and safety units with this law. The Act places a duty on employers to provide a wide range of information about hazards in the workplace to workers and to joint health and safety units.
In Turkey, the primary goal of the Occupational Health and Safety Division is accident and illness prevention. Provision of occupational health services means carrying out activities in the workplace with the aim of protecting and promoting workers’ safety, health and wellbeing, as well as improving working conditions and the working environment. We ensure that organizations have effective occupational health and safety systems in place to protect employees, generate customer confidence. In recent years in Turkey OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) in parallel with the arrangements made in the area, it is undeniable that the reduction in the frequency of appearance of occupational accidents is a fact.

The number of workers and the type of workplace do not constitute a barrier to reach services in terms of OHS. Workplaces are categorized into three with the aim of receiving more effective health and safety services. This classification is carried out by taking account the nature of work performed, substances used or produced at every stage of work, work equipment, production methods types as well as other issues related to work environment and working conditions. The hazard class for enterprises shall be assigned based on the main activities conducted. Workplaces within the less dangerous class with 50 or more employees and workplaces in dangerous and very dangerous classes have to work with the common health and safety units to benefit from OHS services with this application.
Occupational Safety services provide an opportunity for continued learning in the safety field. Those given responsibility for safety in their organization must have expected to be knowledgeable in all aspects of legislation, have an ability to implement policies and procedures, and educate employees in any role.
Joint health and safety units fulfilment of their duties the scope of which shall be limited to the number of workers in the enterprise benefiting from the service assignment and working hours of ohs professionals occupational health and safety training hours of workers and revising of emergency plan and times of risk assessment are determined according to the hazard class of the enterprise.
An important part of the work in Occupational Health is to visit workplaces and evaluate the worker’s risk of injuries or diseases and to provide the requirements for establishing and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment which will facilitate optimal physical and mental health in relation to work. The work must be adapted to the abilities of the employees in the light of physical and mental health conditions.

Designated worker members of joint units have the right to participate in Ministry inspections and investigations, and to investigate serious accidents. Certified worker members have the right to investigate complaints dealing with dangerous circumstances. Joint Occupational Health and Safety unit have the right to make recommendations to employers about health and safety improvements.
